This can depend on the particular projects many projects recommended by Outserve are 'Commercial Open Source' (see below) or receive donations of time or money from large corporates where generally it benefits that company. For example both IBM, Google and Yahoo donate time and money to open source projects as well as having direct control over some projects (e.g. Yahoo owns Zimbra). Some projects exist purely on peoples donated time and money but often these are not recommended for corporate use.
